While Positano is the highlight, nearby villages such as Praiano, Ravello, Amalfi, and Sorrento offer additional beauty and charm. These quaint, picturesque towns are perfect for day trips and provide a less crowded experience compared to Positano.

The narrow, winding streets of Positano are filled with boutique shops, cafés, and family-run restaurants. Walking through the village feels like stepping into a romantic Italian postcard.
Delicious Food & Dining Experience
Positano is packed with amazing restaurants, from sea-view fine dining spots to local trattorias serving authentic Italian cuisine. Seafood, homemade pasta, and lemon-infused dishes are a must-try.

While Positano is an unforgettable place, it is best enjoyed over 1-2 nights. It’s ideal for couples looking for a romantic escape or travelers on a road trip through Italy, stopping briefly before heading to cities like Rome or Naples.

Narrow & Crowded Streets
The roads leading to Positano are very narrow and winding, with constant honking from impatient drivers. Traffic can be stressful, so drive carefully if you’re coming by car.
Locals Can Be Unfriendly Due to Over-Tourism
Positano has become an extremely popular tourist spot, and unfortunately, this has affected the attitude of some locals, who might not be as welcoming as in other parts of Italy.
Overpriced Accommodations & Restaurants
Due to high demand, hotels, restaurants, and services in Positano are often overpriced. If you’re on a budget, consider staying in nearby towns like Praiano or Sorrento and visiting Positano for a day trip.
Lots of Walking & Many Steps
Be prepared for steep climbs and hundreds of steps when exploring Positano. While the landscape is breathtaking, getting around can be physically demanding—especially in the hot summer months.
Tips for a Better Experience in Positano
Book a hotel that includes parking to avoid the hassle of finding a spot for your car.
Visit in the shoulder seasons (spring or fall) to avoid peak crowds and high prices.
Wear comfortable shoes—you’ll be walking a lot!
